Imbolc
new life

"At Imbolc, the Goddess returns from the Otherworld, and the Earth rejoices. Its all about the re-awakening of the Earth after the long, dark winter months." Witches often do their work on Imbolc Eve. It is a quieter affair than others because we are welcoming the Maiden who is pregnant with spring, conceived last Beltaine.

Festival of Lights
This is a time of celebrating fire and warmth, sunshine and growth. Candles are lit and nature prepares again for new blossoms. We begin to notice the days growing longer, and the sun becoming warmer.

White
white flowers"Each phase, or face of the Goddess, has its own color: white for the Maiden, red for the Mother, and black for the Crone. At Imbolc we use white flowers and candles to symbolize the Maiden." Encyclopedia of White Magic

Ashgrove Esbat
The ash is one of the three most magical trees, along with the oak and thorn. In Norse mythology the ash was the Yggdrasil, or World Tree, where the god Odin hung for nine days and nine nights before he was given knowledge of the runes, and then reborn.
